Protocol's Brisbane Launch Celebration: Navigating the Next Phase in Australian AI policy

Join Protocol for our Brisbane Launch Event, celebrating the founding of Australia’s new national, youth-led technology policy lab!

The highlight of the evening will be a panel discussion featuring leading Australian experts in our AI regulation and ecosystem, exploring how we should navigate the next phase of Australian AI policy. Our panellists will share their perspectives on the key priorities for AI policymakers, and what the next 2 to 5 years of AI regulation in Australia are likely to look like.

Our panel will feature:

• Professor Marek Kowalkiewicz, Chair in Digital Economy at QUT Business School and one of the Top 100 Global Thought Leaders in AI (Thinkers360)

• Toni Peggrem, CEO of the Queensland AI Consortium

• Dr Henry Fraser, Lecturer at QUT Law and Associate Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society

• Alexander White, Queensland Privacy Commissioner

The panel will be followed by an introduction from Protocol’s Founding Committee, outlining our mission, ambitions, and upcoming initiatives.

We will conclude with a guided networking and discussion session, inviting attendees to reflect on emerging challenges in technology governance and the role young people can play in shaping Australia’s policy response.

Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to build their own grazing plate from the OMGrazing Cart. Tickets are $15 to cover the cost of catering.
