Event description

Join Brisbane's purpose-driven business community for an insightful day tour exploring a range of social enterprises across the city.

Impact Boom and the Business for Good Network (BFGN) have partnered with AMP Foundation and Westpac Foundation to create this excellent opportunity to hear from the founders of a range of social enterprises, see what's happening on the ground, expand your network and learn from key stakeholders across the ecosystem.

After kickstarting the day at the QUT Foundry (Garden's Point) and hearing updates from the Australian Centre for Philanthropic and Not for Profit (ACPNS) and QUT leaders, we'll begin an enjoyable, short walking tour, led by She Shapes History Founder Sita Sargeant to learn about some kick**s women who helped shape Brisbane's history.

We'll then jump aboard a bus with host Tom Allen (Impact Boom) and head to Australian Spatial Analytics, where Queensland's Australian of the Year, Geoffrey Smith will share some of the key learnings from this award-winning social enterprise which provides professional data services and Geospatial and Digital Engineering careers for young neurodivergent adults.

We'll then head for lunch at Lovewell Cafe, where Annie Stonehouse will share more about the work being done to train, reskill and assist thousands of women to rebuild and establish a new life. We'll be served a delicious lunch, while hearing insights from great panel of soon-to-be-announced leaders.

We'll then head to Jigsaw, a social enterprise that trains and transitions people with disability into mainstream employment to hear key learnings and insights from the team.

To cap the day off, we'll go to the Salvo's "Project Boomerang" where they are creating the foundations for a textiles circular economy hub in south-east Queensland. The panel will share insights into Queensland's circular economy; the challenges and opportunities ahead.

We'll then get dropped back into the CBD, with new connections made for future collaborations.

Throughout the day, you'll also hear from Nicola Stokes (CEO, AMP Foundation), Amy Lyden (CEO, Westpac Foundation and Scholars Trust), Lucy Watson (Program Manager, AMP Foundation) and Sally McGeoch (Senior Advisor, Westpac Foundation) and an array of Tomorrow Makers, including Simone Eyles of disinfluencer.

Ticket price includes bus transport, coffee/drink and light morning tea at QUT, lunch at Lovewell Cafe and the opportunity to meet a diverse range of purpose-led people!
