Interactive History and Ghost Tour!

Make your way through the Brislington Hospital and Nursing Museum and discover artifacts and photographs from early colonial days! Discover the Parramatta Hospitals surgical and nursing equipment, books, instruments and procedures used through time!

Brislington, a Georgian house built in 1821, presents a now and then picture of medical care! The heritage listed property has been recognised as being of historical significance due to its association with notable people, playing a major role in colonial and state government and in the district of Parramatta!

The Colonial room offers an insight into medical care in the 1800s, while the Ward room, Nurses room, the Brown room and operating theatre commemorate Parramatta District Hospital history! Parramatta Nurses contributions to the WW1 and the Granville Train Disaster are recognised aswell!

Hospitals have occupied the site bounded by Parramatta river to the north of George street to the south since the first convict tent hospitals established in 1790! The Colonial Hospital 1818 and later the Cottage Hospital complex in 1897 provided medical care to the growing population of Parramatta and surrounding districts! Jeffrey House was erected on the site in 1943 completing the Parramatta District Hospital!

Brislington became apart of Parramatta District Hospital in 1949 and was used as a Nurses home for many many years! In 1983 it became the Brislington Medical and Nursing Museum as it was chosen as a suitable venue to house a medical and nursing display!
