Join us for a special guided visit to Brogo Reserve this September!

Brogo Reserve was purchased by Bush Heritage Australia in 1995 and protects one of the largest remaining areas of viable bushland in the north-eastern Bega Valley of south-east New South Wales. Spanning 120 hectares, the reserve conserves an important patchwork of forest ecosystems in a region that has experienced significant historic clearing and fragmentation, providing valuable refuge for native wildlife and contributing to the broader ecological health of the surrounding landscape.

Spend the day walking through this remarkable reserve, guided by our expert field staff who will take you to some of their favourite places on the property while sharing stories about the reserve, it's history and the work that's been done to protect it. The valley walls are quiet steep in many sections so while the pace will be gentle there will be some moderate challenge on this walk. We will make sure to leave plenty of time for questions and discussion, opportunities for exploring, and call in's at the excellent look outs the terrain provides along the way. We'll end our walk at the bottom of the valley where we will enjoy the sandy banks of the Brogo River so pack a picnic lunch (byo). There will be 4WDs at the bottom of the steepest section to return us at the end of the day.

More than 70 species of native birds have been recorded on the reserve since Bush Heritage acquired the property, including regularly sighted species such as Superb Lyrebirds, Wonga Pigeons, Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos and Scarlet Robins. The reserve is also home to sugar gliders, wombats, long-nosed bandicoots, echidnas, and may others. Visit our website to learn more about the Brogo Reserve.
