Bronwyn Kirkpatrick - Shakuhachi Recital
Event description
Bronwyn began her shakuhachi journey with grand master Riley
Lee in 1997, after completing a Bachelor of Music degree, which
she completed with distinction, in clarinet performance. Captivated
by the sound of the shakuhachi, Bronwyn studied with Riley for the
next seven years and was awarded a Churchill Fellowship and an
Australia Council Skills and Arts Development Grant, which enabled
her to further her studies with Masters in Japan. Bronwyn has
performed with the Bell Shakespeare Theatre Company and Talk OZ
and at festivals nationally and internationally including the World
Shakuhachi Festival, the OZ Asia festival, Sydney Sacred Music
Festival, and the Four Winds Festival. Bronwyn also teaches and
composes for the instrument, taking a particular interest in
collaboration with other musicians to create meditative
soundscapes.
