Thu, Oct 23, 2pm - 3:30pm PDT

Event description

Come learn the basics of broom making and take home your completed broom.

We will use the plant Scotch Broom for the material to make the brooms. Here in Oregon, Scotch Broom is highly invasive, so cutting it down and finding uses for it is helpful. In Great Britain, where it is native, it was traditionally used for broom making, so was brought to North America with the early settlers. These broom can be used for house or outside brooms, fireplace brooms etc, or they make great “witch brooms” for Halloween or fall door decorations. All supplies will be provided for the class. Class will be limited to 20 participants so please register. Class is made possible by the Mission Street Parks Conservancy.

Hosted by Mission Street Parks Conservancy at the Bush Barn Art Center Annex.

Enter through the Bush Barn Art Center Main Entrance, then head over to the Annex. Come a few minutes early and enjoy the artwork in the galleries!
