Broughton Island Freediving & Camping Adventure
Event description
Freediving and camping on Broughton Island is a truly special experience. Located in Myall Lakes National Park, just 200km north of Sydney, we’ll be freediving for 2 days and camping for 1 night in a million star hotel, amongst an active seabird colony. You must be a confident freediver and a keen camper to participate in this adventure! :)
One of the highlights of the trip is freediving the Looking Glass crack - it’s a crack through the island, which extends above the water for the most part. The depth comes up from 26m to 12-18m. There is an amazing swim-through inside the cave. Grey nurse sharks are often spotted here.
With only six divers and 5 campsites on the island, we’ll feel like we own the island. 🙂

(As the ocean temperature cools down, less algae blooms and the winds and currents push cold, clear water closer to the coast. The water quality is much better than it is in summer).
Keep in mind that this is not a freediving course so you should know all the safety and you should be a confident 15m+ diver.
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
- Chartered boat hire on both days
- 1 night camping on the island (BYO camping equipment)
- 2 freediving buoys
- 1 freediving instructor
- Gourmet food for 2 days 🙂
IMPORTANT:
- You must have your own freediving equipment
- You must have your own camping gear (tent, mattress, sleeping bag)
- YOUR MUST BE A CERTIFIED FREEDIVER
- In case of bad weather / dangerous ocean conditions, we’ll reschedule the trip. You won't lose your deposit.
It's a small trip with only 6 freedivers so please book in ASAP to avoid disappointment.
COST:
$680
(50% / $340 non-refundable deposit)
Includes: Boat hire and freediving for 2 days, national park fee, camping on the island for 1 night, lunch, snacks and dinner on day one, breakfast and lunch on day 2
Does not include: travel expenses to and from Port Stephens
