A poetry workshop and showcase for brown women — learn how to write, deliver and perform with power.

Whether you’ve been told you’re too loud or too quiet, this is the workshop for you. With two workshops and one performance during South Asian Heritage Month, this is a safe space for you to turn those group chat rants or drafted notes into powerful art.

Meet Your Host

Hosted by slam poet, writer and stand up comic Shyaire Ganglani, if you’ve ever wanted to get your trauma onto paper and make something powerful with it in a safe space, your time is now! P.s. poetry can also be funny, romantic, sciencey, and a lot more things. 

Workshop 1 [Write & Craft]: July 11th from 630pm-9pm at Kathleen Syme Library in Carlton 

Workshop 2 [Edit & Perform]: July 18th from 630pm-9pm (same as above)

Brown Women Poetry Showcase: July 25th at 7pm at The Motley Bauhaus in Carlton - come along to watch emerging and established spoken work poets perform. 

P.s. if you’re the type of child growing up that day dreamed a lot and miss reflecting freely, you’re in the right place. But, also if you’re the kind of daughter that makes the best kind of ‘worst dinner guest’ at family gatherings, you’re also, miraculously, in the right place!
