Brunch
Event description
Join us for a Filipino feast that celebrates culture, creativity, and community!
The City of Adelaide warmly invites you to a shared brunch with artist Alyssa Powell-Ascura, where food, conversation, and art come together.
Alyssa will be hosting brunch at the Minor Works Building, offering an opportunity to connect over a traditional salo-salo (feast).
Hear about her international residency at Rimbun Dahan, Malaysia, the journey of creating her first solo exhibition, ‘Halo-halo’ (2024) at The Mill, and what she has been up to since winning the 2024 SALA City of Adelaide Award. Alyssa will also introduce her curatorial debut, ‘cutting fruits’ (2025) showing at City Library, and share insights into her emerging practice.
The catered Filipino menu is curated by the artist herself, and participants are also encouraged to contribute a small plate of food or snack that represents their own cultural background, to be shared with one another.
Bookings are essential.
