Step into a home where sustainability, comfort, and creativity come together.

Join us for a special Bendigo Sustainable House Day visit to a unique straw bale home in Eaglehawk. This cosy and light-filled house is a masterclass in working with nature, from its clever solar-passive design to its thoughtful bushfire-safe layout, all designed by Chris Rule who will be presenting on the day.

Chris Rule, creator of the ‘Spacebale System’ and designer of the house, has spent over 25 years crafting sustainable homes that blend creativity, natural materials, and harmony with the environment.

You’ll see with how smart design, renewable energy, and sustainable gardening can create a home that’s beautiful, practical, and affordable to run.

The flourishing garden is alive with native plants, fruit trees, vegetables, and plenty of birdlife, plus one very charming four-legged resident.

Whether you’re curious about building your own sustainable home, planning a renovation, or simply want to enjoy a day of inspiration, you’ll find ideas to take away and stories to remember.

📍 Exact location will be provided after booking, respecting the homeowner’s privacy.
