BTHC pres. DJ Popup (Denmark/NES)
Event description
It’s been a minute, but we’re back in the spot once again coming at you big time for another BTHC open-air dance initiative. We’re pleased to announce that joining us this time around is Copenhagen native and denizen of our international exchange city Århus, DJ Popup! We’re so amped to provide space for another ultra-lovely Danish legend, as always with an extended run-time, in the dance music community summerhouse; echo & bounce!
DJ Popup (August Busch) has been on our radar for a minute with his life-affirming take on house music. The big chief behind the excellent NES label and spiritual member of the Århus based Regelbau massive has been doing his thing and doing it nice. Founding NES as an output for himself and his friends to get all the weird and wonderful tracks rattling around their hard drives out into the world. This attitude of providing space for lost bounces coupled with an encouraging, collaborative friendship sphere has provided us with some exceptionally crafted, left of centre offerings. His fantastic breakout record Heather got things spinning, slam dunking deep garage with house, straight up a bomb! Continuing onwards and honing his style in subsequent offerings, but always pushing the circuitry and going further than the last. It’s always a pleasure to dive into one of Augusts new releases or cruise in the car to a new demo drop (exclusive).
In deejay mode Popup packs the heaters, bringing those crisp Danish slabs and blending an infusion with forgotten 90s house gems so desperate for a revisit. What we’re left with is a tasty meld of original tracks from the homies and the inspiration from the past, lovingly prepared for maximum flavour capacity and dancefloor potential. I found a quote on the web that says it best; “the guy is a walking house music encyclopaedia!” Say less.
As a space for amplifying our great community we’re keeping it tight and local as always. Joining us is 4zzz’s I Spy host, Yalla Collective queen-pin and mega sweetie Nejmere! From the collective we have our own house music thesaurus; the hard-working, kebab-enjoying, pun-throwing New Age Man. Bosh !
BTHC, echo & bounce and all relevant parties involved actively acknowledge the Turrbal and Yugara as the traditional custodians of the land on which we live, work and create. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. We also humbly acknowledge and celebrate their history as our planet’s first artists, musicians and storytellers. Always was. Always will be.
BTHC and echo & bounce strive to ally ourselves with First Nations people’s, there will be no charge to those who share heritage with this land’s aboriginal communities.
As always please respect the space and each other, dance music was forged through inclusivity and without prejudice. Let’s practice what we preach and strengthen the culture on which we are based!
