Event description

Join us at Envirohub HQ - 31b Glasgow Street, Tauranga from 10am - 12pm on Sunday 13th of August to make your own bug hotel to take home!

Bug hotels are a fun way to help increase your garden's biodiversity and have fun crafting with recycled materials. Often we like to make our gardens very tidy and get rid of the dead leaves, branches and natural materials insects like to make their homes in. By constructing a bug hotel, you are ensuring there is a safe, dry place for our native insects to live in our cities, and some insects can be very beneficial to your garden too!

For $10 pp we will provide you with all the tools you need to help you construct your wooden bug hotel out of recycled wood and the natural materials to fill it as well. You will then be able to take home a pretty bug hotel that's ready to start accepting guests!

This workshop is suitable for all ages that are able to wield a hammer (or supervise the wielding of a hammer) but be aware the wood we are using is not sanded so splinters are a possibility especially for small hands. Please bring gardening gloves if this is a concern.

This workshop will be held under cover so will go ahead regardless of weather conditions.
