Build an Insect Hotel - 15 July

Create your very own insect hotel with Selwyn's Waste and Sustainability Educator and Biodiversity Specialist.

Choose your insect hotel from an assortment of found items, then fill your hotel with a variety of natural garden materials all squished in to make warm, dry accommodation for a host of different insects. Beware of the Biodiversity Specialist, she may have some insects for you to investigate!

Before you arrive: Have a walk in nature and gather natural materials that are suitable for an insect hotel - Pinecones, bamboo, twigs, sticks, moss, and dry leaves. Please bring these items with you.

8-13 years - Adult supervision required.
