Build your Bickford's Lantern!

Join us at Ngutungka West Lakes to construct your own Bickford's LED lantern, based on the traditional brass ship's lanterns of old.  

The workshop is for children over 5 years of age, with two sessions available: 1pm - 2pm and 2:30pm - 3:30pm.

At this workshop you will:

• Cut, glue and punch the paper and cardboard lantern base and lid
• Use straws and rubber bands to attach base and lid to a plastic Bickford's bottle to form the lantern body
• Use screw terminals to connect an amber light-emitting-diode (LED) to a battery pack to make the LED candle
• Insert the LED candle into the lantern body to complete the assembly
• Switch ON, and test your lantern in our dark box
• Take your lantern home to illuminate your room like a flickering candle.

Each ticket holder will receive a $5 discount voucher for an adult to tour the clipper ship City of Adelaide at Dock 2, Port Adelaide, sometime in the future (children tour free of charge).
