Build Your Own Wicking Bed Workshop
Event description
Build Your Own Wicking Bed Workshop
Peg Davies, sustainability educator and waste-wise guru, is running a "How To Build Your Own Wicking Bed" workshop.Â
These self-watering beds need less water than your traditional garden bed, as the water wicks up from the base. Wicking beds promote water conservation - reducing the need for frequent watering, limiting water loss due to evaporation, and providing plants with a consistent water supply –making them an eco-friendly option for the garden!
In Peg’s workshop, you’ll learn how to create your own wicking bed at home using recycled materials, which will help keep your plants happy and healthy through the long Kalgoorlie-Boulder summers.
This event is free. Please note, the workshop takes place at the Community Garden, next to Hammond Park. While there is plenty of undercover space, some of the workshop may take place in the open air... so ensure that you slip, slop, slap!Â
