Building a baseline - Short-beaked echidnas in the Lockyer Valley
Event description
Help Us Discover Echidnas in the Lockyer Valley!
Echidnas are one of Australia’s most unique and beloved animals - but in the Lockyer Valley, we know very little about where they are or how many remain. This free citizen science event invites locals to help change that.
You’ll learn about echidna biology and how to help monitor them using motion-activated camera traps and transects and how to identify their tracks, scats and diggings; enabling you to contribute to vital research that supports long-term conservation.
This event is perfect for Land for Wildlife members, local landholders, nature lovers, and anyone curious about wildlife monitoring.
Please bring a device (laptop or tablet) so that you can view camera trap images - if possible—you’ll get hands-on experience reviewing real camera trap images in the Lockyer Valley region! Still come along if you can't bring a device, we will have spare!
