Building a Better Future in a Time of Crisis
Event description
Please join us for an inspiring evening with a member of Dror Israel, a grassroots organization that promotes equality and social justice through education and community work. Dror Israel is comprised of 1,300 educators residing in 16 intentional communities in Israel's social and economic periphery.
Noam Schlanger is Dror Israel's liaison to the Pacific NW. He has worked as a youth counselor with at-risk teens in northern Israel, including the Arab Israeli village of Kfar Manda. For the last four years Noam has lived in Dror's urban kibbutz in the mixed Arab/Jewish city of Akko. He is responsible for the neighborhood's community garden, a social and learning center for elderly Russian-speaking residents. Noam will be talking about Dror Israel before October 7th, their work since October 7th, and their hopes for the future.
This event is supported by the Eastside Jewish Commons, the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland, Pnai Or, Congregation Shir Tikvah, Congregation Shaarie Torah and Congregation Kol Ami.
EJC is wheelchair accessible.
All proceeds from this event benefit Dror Israel.
