Building a Sustainable Future for Maine Schools - Roundtable Workshop to Develop a K–12 Sustainability Action Plan Template
Description
Maine Department of Education Green Schools Program, in collaboration with Solen Works and the Roux Institute ClimateTech Incubator will convene a roundtable to co-develop a practical, customizable Sustainability Action Plan template for Maine School Administrative Units (SAU)s. This plan helps schools with budgeting, engages the students, teachers, staff and public, creates momentum, invites expertise, builds necessary alliances going forward and smooths out personnel turn-over disruptions
The event will bring together school leaders & staff, educators, engineers, climate education consultants, clean energy professionals to show “best practice” Sustainability plans and templates that align educational goals, governance and leadership, student engagement and curriculum integration, building performance & facility operations, transportation, food, waste and purchasing practices as well as available funding. Participants will work collaboratively to define core plan components, implementation pathways and available resources. The outcome will be a shared, adaptable framework that districts can use to develop their own sustainability plans more efficiently and affordably. This effort will support healthier learning environments, reduced operating costs, and increased investment in Maine’s education and clean energy sectors.
Please note this is an in-person, invite only event limited to 32 people. Free of charge.
