Building an Aotearoa without prisons
Event description
How do we build an Aotearoa where people, particularly Māori, are no longer affected by the impacts of institutional racism, where whānau and communities are empowered, and where the justice system focuses on healing and restoration? Achieving this requires building an Aotearoa without prisons.
Join us at 6pm on Thursday 25th May at Te Pokapū Hapori in Te Whanganui-a-Tara for a kōrero on how we might do this. Hosted by the Social Change Collective, this event explores this vision and discusses some actions we can take as individuals, whānau, and communities, to get us there.
We're excited to hear from Aphiphany Forward-Taua, Executive Director at JustSpeak; Eugene Ryder, Kaitiaki at Ināia Tonu Nei; and Ti Lamusse, Co-Founder of People Against Prisons Aotearoa. Doors open from 6pm with kōrero starting at 6.30pm.
Please register for free to give us an idea of numbers, and cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to join us!
Accessibility: Te Pokapū Hapori is on ground level, has even surface across the building, and 2x accessible toilets.
