Building Bridges in the Pacific

PMINZ Waikato invites you to join us for a discussion on Building Bridges in the Pacific, exploring the realities of delivering infrastructure projects in some of the most remote and challenging locations in the world.

Successful project delivery in the Pacific begins long before construction teams arrive on site. This session will examine the critical planning, stakeholder engagement, and risk management activities that lay the foundation for successful outcomes in remote environments. Attendees will gain insight into the engagement models used to build strong relationships with local communities and stakeholders, the importance of site visits, and the conversations required to understand and manage risks prior to construction teams setting foot on the ground.

While the setting may be thousands of kilometres from Waikato, the lessons are relevant to projects closer to home. Whether delivering infrastructure, capital works, or organisational change, project professionals face many of the same challenges, including stakeholder alignment, managing uncertainty, mitigating risks, and establishing strong foundations for successful delivery.

As always, the evening will include networking and nibbles, providing an opportunity to connect with fellow professionals and continue the conversation.

About the Presenter:

Andrew Vickers is a Professional QS with 16 years of experience in preconstruction management and project delivery across NZ, Australia, and USA. Now managing his own firm, Andrew supports clients and contractors across a range of areas included feasibility studies, tender management and project delivery.
