    Event description

It's time to check in on the grazing trials established 12 months ago.  The trials compared the combination of high stock density, high grass utilisation and longer grass recoveries, with low stock density, low utilisation and shorter recoveries.

What has been the change in soil health and function?

The workshop part of the day will be all about the how to.

    How to:

    • recognise what a healthy landscape looks like
    • put into action grazing practices that will increase the biological and landscape functioning of your soil
    • decide what corrective action to take, for what problem
    • manage so you won't run out of grass
    • reduce inputs and increase profitability
    • maintain animal performance and health

Graeme Hand, grazing trainer and coach with Hand for the Land, will be in Tasmania to run workshops at the trial sites.  Graeme is a farmer and has  successfully practiced this grazing process over decades.  He is achieving a consistant increase in water infiltration, nutrient cycling, ground cover and animal performance, while being profitable.

A second workshop will be held at  "Bowsden" at Jericho on Thursday 30 June, 10am - 4pm.  The workshop content at the two workshops will be the same.
