Event description

Building stronger analysis in science

Back by popular demand...

This 3 hour face-to-face workshop for science teachers is a repeat of our popular workshop offered in September 2020. Two sessions are available for booking, with a morning and an afternoon session to be held on Friday 30 October 2020. Places are strictly limited, so please book now to secure your place.

More effective analysis and discussion

Are your students producing limited evidence of analysis and originality in practical investigations? Do your students default to the same generic errors when writing reports?

This 3 hour face-to-face workshop for science teachers will demonstrate how scaffolding, through the use of a matrix, leads to stronger evidence of original thought by students and more effective analysis and discussion.

Qualitative and quantitative data from the science classrooms of lead practitioners and education research will be shared to support you in the construction and application of your own analysis matrix for a chosen investigation.

What will I learn?

INCREASE your confidence in effective assessment design through scaffolding.

ENHANCE the variety and depth of student evidence generated during the analysis of practical investigations.

BENEFIT from the power of student data in the modification of assessment and pedagogy for measurable impact.

This workshop is designed for senior secondary science teachers, but teachers of all the sciences are welcome.
