Building Sustainable Finance Capability for the Future
Event description
Almost 20 years after coining the term ESG and helping shape global frameworks for sustainable finance, Paul Clements-Hunt returns to the conversation with a timely question: is the finance sector equipped for the transition to net zero? As the former head of the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative, Paul led the development of the Principles for Responsible Investment and other major initiatives that placed environmental, social and governance factors on the financial agenda. Today, he argues that building credible climate capability across the system is critical to making real progress.
Join Paul and a panel of leading experts including Professor Martina Linnenluecke, Director, UTS Centre for Climate Risk and Resilience, Gordon Noble, Research Director at the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures; Rachel Alembakis, Stewardship Manager, U Ethical Investors; and Nayanisha Samarakoon, Head of Policy & Advocacy, Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA); for an in-person conversation on the origins of sustainable finance and the role of ESG today. They’ll explore what responsible investment means in a rapidly changing world and why building the right skills across the sector will be key to driving real, lasting change.
