What will you feel? What will you discover? What will you hear and most of all what will you capture in a photo?

The Buladelah courthouse is the second courthouse for the township. The first courthouse was built from timber in 1871 and was destroyed by white ants. The original Buladelah courthouse and goal were erected where the Church of England now stands!

The second Buladelah Courthouse was built in 1886 by Mr White and took 3 years to construct using stone blocks that were shipped from England and was put together using a number code system.

The courthouse remained in full use as a court until 1956, then used as a Petty sessions court till the mid 1970s. It continued to be used as a police station until 1976, when the current police station opened.

After the building ceased operation as a police station, it became Buladelah preschool followed by a teachers resource centre. For the past 20 years it has been used by the Buladelah and Districts Historical Society as a museum.

The Goal cells out the back of the courthouse were regarded as some of the most attractive settings for convicts to spend their last hours of freedom, with the cells being considered one of the most comfortable on the world’s justice trail.

The Magistrates House still remains behind the courthouse and is where the Magistrate and the Magistrates families would live. The last family to live here was Mr Sargent Stalker and his family and relocating in 1976 when the new police station opened.

The Buladelah Courthouse holds a large amount of historical information and artifacts including its very own mortuary table!
