Hosted by the Road Safety team from the Department of Transport and Main Roads, this workshop promises to arm you with the knowledge and confidence needed to foster a culture of safety behind the wheel, creating a lasting impact on your learners' journey towards responsible driving.

The workshop includes:

  • Information about key risks facing learner drivers

  • Practical advice for supervisors to help develop lifelong safe driving habits

  • An overview of the practical driving test

    • Tips to avoid common mistakes

    • What to expect on the day

  • Opportunity to ask questions and speak with our road safety experts.

Learner drivers are welcome to attend with supervisors.

  • What is the Ready for the Road workshop?

    Ready for the Road is a free workshop designed to help supervisors support learner drivers. It builds confidence, explains what’s required at each stage, and shares practical tips to help learners become safe drivers.

  • Who should attend?

    This workshop is for anyone supervising a learner driver — parents, carers, family members or friends. Learner drivers are also welcome to attend with their supervisor.

  • What will I learn?

    You’ll learn:

    • What supervisors need to know (rules, responsibilities and expectations)

    • How to safely guide a learner through different driving stages

    • Practical tips to build skills, confidence and good driving habits

    • Common challenges — and how to handle them

  • Do I need any experience or knowledge before attending?

    No. The workshop is designed for all experience levels — whether you’re just starting out or already supervising.

  • Is the workshop free?

    Yes — the workshop is fully funded and free to attend.

  • Where is the workshop held?

    The location is listed in the event details. Some sessions may also be offered online from early 2027.

  • Why should I attend?
