Event description

Join Landcare volunteers and other NRM professionals on a cultural awareness training day with Bunurong to help create a culturally safe environment. The training will;

  • Increase participants’ knowledge and understanding of the issues, past and present, that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and communities.
  • Provide information that will help participants to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Presenter Jillian West is a proud Palawa woman from the Islands of Bass Strait and Proud Bunurong woman from Point Nepean born in Victoria with a lengthy career supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in work, education, and support in their life journey.

The event is free and will be fully catered.  Funding support has been provided through the Waterways of the West Traditional Owner Engagement Project and is being delivered through Melbourne Water’s Community Capacity Building team.

Priority will be given to participants whose NRM work is on Bunurong country.
