Burnout Prevention for Practitioners

This training explores the professional vulnerability associated with frontline work. Using a strength based approach by reconnecting professionals to their passion and choice in working with people, this training takes a deep dive into understanding the difference between ordinary workplace stress, identifying the features of chronic stress and the early indicators of burnout.

WHOThis course is suitable for front line responders, emergency services (police, child protection and hospital staff etc), family violence workers as well as social workers, support workers, case workers and telehealth services working with clients in a range of human service delivery sectors.

OUR PRESENTER: Tori Cooke brings two decades of practice as a social worker as well as extensive training experience.  She is a well-respected practitioner and leader who is passionate about teaching practical skills that support workforce capacity and builds health and wellness for those working in human service delivery. 

WORKSHOP LEARNING:

  • Defining compassion fatigue and the characteristics of chronic stress and differentiating this from ordinary workplace stress associated with human service delivery.

  • Explore and unpack the unique differences between productive stress, workplace stress, chronic stress, burnout and vicarious trauma.

  • Identify the behaviours that are associated with chronic stress.

  • Provide tools and reflective activities throughout the workshop that are practical, and action focused.

  • Connect to organisational strategies to support leaders implementing clinical supervision and employee wellness programs.
