Bush Buds: Alpine Walk

You’ve chosen your Bush bud - now it’s time to learn all about them! 

Join us and ACF Community Canberra for a walk in the Territory’s high country and get the opportunity to learn more about the habitat of the following Bush Buds: 

  • Corroboree Frog
  • Alpine Tree Frog
  • Brush tailed rock wallaby

Where? The walk will be at Mt Franklin. You can self-drive to the Mount Franklin Walk Carpark or opt-in to carpool with other attendees. We will facilitate carpooling and be in touch to confirm arrangements, please indicate your preference when you register. 

When? Saturday the 22nd April (which also happens to be Earth Day!) If you are self-driving, please meet at the Mount Franklin Walk Carpark, Mount Franklin Rd, Cotter River ACT 2611, at 9:30am. If you are carpooling, please meet at the Weston Creek Tennis Club, Dillon Cl, Weston ACT 2611, at 8:00am. 

Who? Rod Griffiths will be leading our Alpine Walk. Rod is a lifelong bushwalking expert and environmental advocate with a wealth of knowledge of Canberra's great outdoors! Rod has been involved in many environmental organisations including the Australian Conservation Foundation, the National Parks Association of the ACT, The Conservation Council ACT Region and the Environmental Defenders Office. 


Note: Please bring morning tea, lunch and water with you. We will email all registered attendees with further details and safety information on Friday 21st April. 

Accessibility: The walk is a Grade 2 hike that is 3.6km return, taking approximately 1.5hrs. We will stop for lunch and morning tea during the walk. The walk is on steel mesh and natural trail. Unfortunately, this walk is not wheelchair accessible, but future Bush Buds walks will be, so please keep an eye on our social media pages or contact info@conservationcouncil.org.au if you would like to be updated about walk accessibility.
