Bush Monsters – Friend or Foe?

Follow the monster trail, meet live animals and discover which creatures and plants are friends – and which might be foes.

Halloween might be over, but there are still some scary things in Bungarribee Park.

Grab your trail map and set off on a family nature adventure through the park! Along the way, young investigators will investigate animal bones, meet some incredible live animals from Sydney Zoo and get your hands dirty helping to look after the bush.

Can you tell a native animal from an introduced pest? Match the bones to their owners? Or spot which plants belong in the bush – and which weeds need to go?

There'll be something new to discover at every stop:

• Bone mystery – match skeletons to the different animals and investigate whether they are native or introduced.

• Live animals – get up close to some fascinating creatures with the team from Sydney Zoo.

• Bush detective – learn to spot native plants and weeds, then help us remove some of the unwanted ones.

• Trick or treat – complete the trail for a special Halloween sweet by Make a Wish and Chupa Chups!

Event details

Date: Sunday 1 November 2026
Time: 9 am – 12 pm (Spacing)
Sessions: Every 30 minutes
Age: Designed for children aged 4 – 8 years
Cost: $15 per child
Location: Bungarribee Park - Bung Shelter

Allow approximately 45 - 60 minutes to complete the trail.

Children must be accompanied by a supervising adult throughout the event.

Choose your start time, grab your map and find out who is a friend – and who is a foe.

What to bring

This is an outdoor adventure, so please come prepared to explore the park:

• Refillable water bottle

• Hat and sun protection

• Enclosed shoes

• Comfortable clothing suitable for the weather and getting a little dirty

Things to know before you attend 

• Please come prepared, as this program takes place outdoors and will go ahead in all-weather unless it is unsafe to do so (for example, during high winds or thunderstorms).

• The event will take place outdoors and activities may change depending on weather and ground conditions.

• We reserve the right to cancel the event in case of dangerous weather or if minimum participation numbers are not met. In these circumstances a refund will be offered. Please refer to our full terms and conditions for more information.

Your responsibilities if you feel unwell 

I understand that it is my responsibility to ensure that all attendees associated with this booking do not attend if: 

• We/I show any COVID-19, infectious disease or virus symptoms or feel unwell 

• We/I have had a fever, diarrhoea or vomiting within 12 hours or at the time of the program 

• We/I have been asked to self-isolate 

• We/I have had a positive COVID-19 test result and continue to have symptoms.
