About our chef: John Ralley
John has trained and worked with some of the very best in the hospitality industry. His Pâtissier knowledge was born from his time working in Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe which he brought back to Australia and perfected in established Sydney restaurants. John featured in “The New Patissiers by Olivier Dupon” and was part of “The Australian Pastry Team”. As a pastry chef John draws his inspiration from doing what he loves; adventure, the great outdoors, hunting, fishing and exploring the world of the culinary arts.
Whisky Uncovered regulars may remember John from our awesome partnership in 2021 on the sugar-rushed, wild ride that was 'WHISKUITS', at the amazing Textbook Patisserie.
Following the transformative period that was the COVID-19 pandemic, John and his partner made the big decision to close Textbook and relocate to the Hawkesbury River to begin an exciting new project: the Bush River Kitchen. With a philosophy of sourcing ingredients solely from the local area, and in a location that is truly serene, John partners with guest chefs to deliver truly unique lunch and dinner experiences.
What can I expect from the experience?
We're glad you asked, because we value every dollar of your hard-earned that you invest in our experiences.
Guests will be treated to beautifully relaxed, analogue whisky and food-pairing 'long lunch' at the Bush River Kitchen site. Following an optional minibus transfer to the BRK location, John will treat guests to some very special, locally sourced ingredients for the occasion and we'll be selecting some moreish whiskies from The Whisky List's large catalogue, for the perfect pairing.
Given the setup on site, this experience will be super intimate, and limited to just sixteen guests.
The Whisky Uncovered crew will be throwing a few surprises in the mix, all wrapped up in our signature afternoon experience, with the opportunity to win some fantastic take-home prizes.
NOTE, unfortunately we won't be able to cater for some of the more specific dietary requirements for this event, including Gluten Free or Vegan, due to the nature of the special ingredients being sourced for the menu.
