What is BushBank?
The Victorian Government’s $77 million BushBank Program is restoring more than 20,000 hectares of land across Victoria to create healthy wildlife habitat and capture carbon. The majority of work is taking place on private land through partnerships with private landowners.
It’s the most ambitious environmental restoration program in Victoria’s history.
About the project
This Wooragee property, just out of Beechworth, has been a labour of love for the landowners for over a decade. Since 2011, they've been revegetating the site and reducing grazing to make their land more hospitable to species like the critically endangered Swift Parrot and Regent Honeyeater. In 2025, they applied for the BushBank program to give a boost to their efforts to restore the 59 hectare block.
This year, the site underwent large-scale direct seeding and supplementary planting, delivered in partnership with Cassinia and co-funded by Greenfleet. The land will be restored primarily to Valley Grassy Forest and Grassy Dry Forest and protected by a Trust for Nature conservation covenant.

- Will there be toilets onsite?
Yes, there will be access to a toilet for guests to use.
- When do I arrive?
Arrive anytime from 9:30am to enjoy some refreshments on us and get settled in before we start promptly at 10am.
- How challenging is the walking on site?
The guided revegetation walk will be fairly leisurely and suitable for most walking abilities. Please wear suitable shoes/boots and be prepared with extra layers/a rain jacket.
