Woody weeds can have a major impact on your property, increasing bushfire risk, threatening biodiversity and reducing productivity. Join us and the Country Fire Service for a practical, on-property workshop where you'll learn firsthand how one local landholder is tackling a significant infestation of gorse through a range of control methods.

This real-life case study highlights the challenges and bushfire preparation opportunities of woody weed management. From using spider-mites and moths as biocontrol methods to exploring other control options, you'll see how successful weed management often requires a multi-faceted approach, persistence and a willingness to adapt.

What you'll learn:

The importance of controlling woody weeds to reduce bushfire risk around your property.
Practical woody weed control methods, including considerations around timing, site conditions, and treatment options.
Why effective woody weed management often requires a combination of approaches and ongoing persistence.
How terrain, erosion risk, and other environmental factors can influence management decisions.
Practical tools and guidance to help you develop a Bushfire Survival Plan for your property assets.
Lessons learned from a local landholder's experiences.

Lunch provided. This is a great opportunity to learn from industry professionals, local landholders, and the CFS while connecting with others facing similar challenges.

This project is supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Natural Heritage Trust under the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program.
