Luke Martin

Chief Executive, Salmon Tasmania

Luke Martin is Chief Executive of Salmon Tasmania, the industry body representing Tasmania's three salmon farmers: Petuna, Tassal and Huon Aquaculture.

Salmon aquaculture is Australia's largest seafood sector generating $1.3 billion of economic activity in Tasmania each year. The industry is made up of a supply chain of innovative Tasmania-based businesses providing technical, feed, sustainability, logistics and processing solutions, that together generate employment for over 5,000 Tasmanians. Nine out of ten of these workers live and work in regional communities across the State.

Luke joined the salmon industry in July 2023 after 12 years representing the State's tourism industry as CEO of Tourism Industry Council Tasmania. In his 'younger years', Luke worked as a political staffer, a corporate communications consultant, policy officer for the Tasmanian community services sector, and had a stint as a local government councillor.

Luke will give an overview of the salmon industry, including its impact on the Tasmanian economy and regulatory oversight.

Stacey Joseph

Business Services Manager, Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Having grown up in the tourism and hospitality industry, Stacey has spent in excess of 20 years in people facing roles. Stacey has been employed at the TCCI for the past 10 years and has extensive experience in human resources and workforce development. Having worked on a number of employment, training and people related projects, Stacey has a broad knowledge base and first-hand experience of the challenges faced by employers. Stacey takes a practical approach to workforce challenges and brings a creative approach to resolving issues all the while cognisant of applicable legislative and regulatory requirements for employers.

Stacey has supported multiple businesses to become Employers of Choice as well as to implement practices that create a workplace culture that contributes to attracting and retaining a skilled and capable workforce. Stacey has a contagious passion for everything she does, driven by the desire to help others to develop and improve. Operating with integrity and optimism, Stacey has a strong sense of purpose and the ability to influence others. Her approach to problem solving involves an equal focus on the individual, the team and the systems and culture in which they operate.

Stacey will provide an update on the latest changes to national employment law that employers need to be aware of.
