Event description

As young people, we're all working to find our passions and explore new ways to bring our passions to life. We're seeing the future of work changing faster as more exciting opportunities are created for young people to pursue their interests. Ever heard of a social media detox coach, a nanotechnologist, or an organic food producer? Not too long ago, these entrepreneurial pathways didn’t exist.

As the workforce continues to adapt to global events, rapidly evolving technology, and societal shifts, rather than searching for a job, young people today are creating their own opportunities.

As part of our Business Builders school holiday program, we will be working with students over one action-packed day as they follow their interests and grow their ideas into a tangible product or service, giving them a way to bring their ideas to life, whilst also making money doing so. Whether their venture returns a profit or remains in the classroom, students will adopt an entrepreneurial mindset where they will gain confidence in themselves and discover their potential.

In our Business Builders program, students learn what it takes to design, create, and build their own business. Our young people work with an expert team of facilitators and will be challenged to prototype their own product or service. They will take the time to understand the business basics before then building their own brand ready to launch over their holidays.

Our team will be providing all materials required for challenges and activities. We ask that students provide their own morning tea and lunch each day and we will have a selection of snacks available for students throughout the program.

In addition to this, we ask that students bring a water bottle, and a device to work on if possible. We will provide iPads for those without a device, but if students have their own laptop or tablet they are more comfortable using as they work, we'd encourage them to bring this along.

Staying Safe While We Learn
Whilst Queensland is doing an exceptional job at crushing the curve, the safety of our learners is always our top priority for us. To ensure we're all staying safe while we learn we will be following directions from the state and federal governments around COVID-Safe practices for education programs.

In addition to this, we will be limiting student numbers for the program to a maximum of 20 students. Finally, we will be cleaning surfaces and equipment between uses and following other directions from the Queensland Government and St Paul's to ensure we're creating a safe space for our learners.

Do Students Need Any Prior Experience?
Students don't need any prior experience for this program. We will be able to cater to different skill levels and interest areas. We just ask that students are excited and willing to participate.
