    Simon Fenech, CEO at Fruit2Work

Simon Fenech is the CEO of Fruit2Work, a social enterprise creating meaningful employment and second chances for people impacted by the justice system. Simon’s leadership is grounded in lived experience. His own journey has included struggles with addiction and mental health, incarceration, and the enormous challenge of trying to rebuild a life when very few people were willing to give him an opportunity. That opportunity eventually came through Fruit2Work. Simon started as a pick-packer and, through hard work and the support of people who believed in him, progressed to Team Leader, Operations Manager, National Operations Manager, General Manager and today, CEO. Having once needed a second chance himself, Simon now dedicates his life to creating those opportunities for others. Fruit2Work currently employs 87 people and has supported more than 200 people impacted by the justice system to transition back into the community through meaningful employment, dignity and purpose. A 2026 Westpac Social Change Fellow, Simon is a passionate advocate for breaking the cycles of incarceration, addiction, and disadvantage. Above all, he is a proud family man who believes that a person’s past should never determine their future—and that sometimes all it takes is one person, one job and one opportunity to completely change the direction of a life.

About Fruit2Work

Fruit2Work is an award-winning certified social enterprise and registered charity. Our purpose is to create chances for people who have been impacted by the justice system. We do this by providing employment and helping people rebuild their lives, one fresh fruit box delivery at a time. In doing so we reduce recidivism and the potential social impact costs of re-incarceration.

We create a culture that is free of bias because we know this is crucial for people returning to the community to transform their lives and reconnect with their loved ones.
