Event description

The Business for Good Sector Development Program is for social enterprises, First Nations owned businesses, B Corps and small businesses who are interested in intentionally embedding social and environmental impact into their businesses.

Our Business for Good workshop series will cover a range of small business fundamentals topics with an impact lens to help SA small businesses build key knowledge and capabilities to drive social and environmental impact through sustainable business development and growth.

Workshop 7: Financial Management for Business Sustainability and Impact

A small business finance workshop with a social enterprise perspective.

Whether you're starting a new venture or have an existing business, this workshop will provide you with practical knowledge and resources to ensure you have all the finance, compliance and administration boxes ticked, so you can get on with the more exciting parts of your enterprise!

  • Compliance Essentials: Understanding your obligations with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), including key deadlines and requirements for small businesses.
  • Effective Record-Keeping: Best practices for maintaining accurate financial records that not only meet regulatory standards but also support strategic decision-making and transparency, including when and if you need to be using accounting software.
  • Tax: How much do you have to pay, how much should you be putting aside, and what on earth is the PAYG Instalment System...
  • GST Registration: When do you need to register, should you register before you are legally required to? How to do it and what is expected of you once you are GST registered from an invoicing, pricing and compliance perspective.
  • Superannuation: it’s important and often overlooked by small business owners.
  • Bringing on a team: Making sure you know everything you need to know about becoming an employer.
  • And an opportunity to ask questions: Every ask is valid, don’t hold back, there are often people thinking and wanting to ask the same question as you.

This workshop will be led by Kimberlee Brown, founder of Quick Brown Fox Finance.

Following Kimberlee's session, you are welcome to stay on with us for an extra hour for an informal chat over light refreshments.

Places are limited and registrations are essential so get in quick to avoid disappointment. We are eager to enable eligible businesses in regional South Australia who cannot attend in person to participate via Zoom.
