Event description

The Business for Good Sector Development Program is for social enterprises, First Nations owned businesses, B Corps and small businesses who are interested in intentionally embedding social and environmental impact into their businesses.

Our Business for Good workshop series will cover a range of small business fundamentals topics with an impact lens to help SA small businesses build key knowledge and capabilities to drive social and environmental impact through sustainable business development and growth.

Workshop 8: Procurement Fundamentals

Social procurement is a mechanism for businesses and governments to use their buying power to generate social and environmental impact above and beyond the value of the goods or services being procured by engaging social benefit suppliers. This workshop will provide an introductory overview for South Australian social enterprises and small businesses with an impact focus on social procurement as a strategy for impact-driven businesses to gain customers and drive business and impact growth through B2B procurement, covering topics and questions such as:

  • What is social procurement
  • Who engages in social procurement
  • What are social benefit suppliers
  • What are the key drivers for business and government to engage in social procurement
  • How can social enterprises and small businesses engage with social procurement opportunities
  • Examples of social procurement in action
  • Tips and opportunities for social enterprises and small businesses to get procurement ready, and more!

This workshop will be led by Amy Orange, SA-based Social Procurement Lead for Social Traders. Arrernte man Marius Liddle, founder of MTL Consulting Services, will be joining the session to provide a much needed First Nations business lens to the topic.

Following Amy's session, you are welcome to stay on with us for an extra hour for an informal chat over light refreshments.
