As Interim Chief Commissioner, Meg McDonald leads the body responsible for independently tracking NSW’s legislated emissions targets - 50% by 2030, 70% by 2035, and Net Zero by 2050. The Commission’s first report outlines how key sectors including energy, transport, heavy industry and agriculture are tracking, and what needs to happen next to shift from policy ambition to real progress.

Orica’s Bertus De Villiers brings the business lens, sharing how the company’s Kooragang Island facility is transitioning toward clean hydrogen. The Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub, supported by $432 million in grant funding under ARENA’s Hydrogen Headstart program, represents a key step in decarbonising heavy industry while maintaining local manufacturing and supply chains.
