Course description:

Sponsored by Postdoc Affairs, SciPhD's comprehensive 3-day program makes academic scientists “business-ready” for professional positions, whether in academia, government, industry, or elsewhere. Their experiential “learn by doing” methodology provides hands-on training for students to experience the essential skills valued and required by professional organizations.

Postdoc Affairs is excited to sponsor this program, worth $600, at a highly discounted rate of just $40 per trainee at NYU Langone Health.

This interactive workshop will cover:

23 essential skills to distinguish yourself from the competition
Successful science communication
Effective teamwork and leadership techniques
Project management for scientists
Negotiation for what you’re worth
Simplifying networking
Preparing for interviews

BONUS: you will also receive a free subscription to Flamingo, a tailored job search engine and matching service for scientists

Currently, many traditional academic programs emphasize scientific/technical skills with less of a focus on the business and people skills. The SciPhD certificate program raises awareness of these skills and helps trainees improve these skills using hands-on experiences so that they are ready to enter the job force.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

You must attend all days to receive the completion certificate.
