Have you ever wanted to start your own business? Join us for our Business Builders program this school holidays where we’ll be working with you to build your own small business ready to launch for under $100!

Over two action-packed days, we will be working with high school students to build their own businesses as part of the Young Entrepreneurs Hub. With the program hosted at the WeWork Co-Working Space in Brisbane City, and facilitated by the BOP team of program coordinators, this is a great opportunity for young people looking to bring their business ideas to life.

On the 6th & 7th of April, we will be working with students to find a business idea before then creating a brand around the idea, developing a product or service to sell, and a basic business model to get them started. This is the perfect opportunity for students interested in starting a business to make their start.

Over the course of the program we will be covering the following topics:

Identifying Your Business Idea: We will be working with students to brainstorm a series of products or services they could sell to start making money.

Finding Your Customers: From there, we’ll be developing our understanding of what our customers want and need in our products as we explore customer personas.

Creating Your Product Or Service: Once we know what our customers are looking for, we’ll be spending some time developing the product or service we’ll be selling.

Designing Your Branding And Marketing: Once we have a great product to sell, we’ll be turning our attention to the branding and marketing as we look at how we can get that product out there.

Developing Your Business Model: As we draw to the end of the program we’ll then be looking at the business model behind our new venture to make sure we understand our costs and profit.

Creating Your Goals: Finally, we’ll be working with students to do some goal setting for the term ahead to make sure they have a plan to bring this business to life!

Over the course of the two days students will be connecting with other like-minded young people, hearing from mentors in the field, and working with the BOP team as we guide them along their business journey. This is a great opportunity for young people wanting to see what it’s like to build their own business, and we can’t wait to see your young people there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who Is This Program For?
This program is open to students in Grades 7-12 from across South-East Queensland. We typically only take up to 20 students per program to keep the group small.

Do I Need A Business Idea Already?
We do ask that students have a business idea before entering the program. Whilst they don't need to have a product or service ready to sell just yet, we do ask that they have a clear idea on what they would like their business to do.

What Do Students Need To Bring?
Students will need to bring a device (preferably a laptop) to work on over the course of the program. In addition to this, we ask that they bring morning tea and lunch each day. All other equipment will be provided.

When Will The Program Run?
The program will run from 9am - 3pm on Wednesday the 6th and Thursday the 7th of April 2022. Students are welcome to arrive from 8:30am and can stay until 4pm should they wish.

How Do Students Get To The Venue?
The program will take place at 310 Edward Street. There are plenty of public transport options nearby with Central Station across the road, and the Queen Street and King George Square Bus Stations a 5 minute walk away. There is also a pick up and drop off zone by the 'Adina Hotel' across the road.
