Busy Bees workshop
Event description
Pollinator Week 2024 is a celebration of the vital role that pollinators play in our ecosystems, economies, and agriculture. Pollinators need you. You need pollinators! Birds, bats, bees, butterflies, beetles, and other small mammals pollinate plants & are responsible for bringing us one out of every three bites of food. They also sustain our ecosystems & produce our natural resources by helping plants reproduce. Dr Kit Pendergast will provide an on-line talk about native bees & be able to answer some questions about all things bees. We'll follow up the workshop about how you can get involved in the Pollinator Count.
After the workshop, Springfield Lakes Nature Care will guide you through the ABC of Insect ID. These Guides will help you develop all the identification skills you need to become a citizen scientist and join the Australian Pollinator Count if you wish to do a pollen count.
SLNC will also have a guest speaker to talk about local birds & butterflies who also act as pollinators.
$2 will cover afternoon tea at this event.
