Tanj: (she/her + he/him)
Partners in string-section-crime in many previous projects, Naomi
Jones and Tim Merrikin created Tanj to explore the vast and freeing
combination of fiddle and double bass. Sparked from ideas shared in the
in-between moments of other band rehearsals, this project has grown and
evolved to become its own creature. Naomi and Tim share ideas specific
to string instruments and build on each other’s musical thoughts - from
serious and personal to frivolous and out there - it is the musical
equivalent of a laugh and a hug between friends. Influenced by the
traditional and the experimental, their performances feature
improvisation and curiosity whilst falling in and out of grooves.
Myki Jay: (they/them)
Unashamedly queer, trans-non-binary folk singer and storyteller Myki presents a live show that could quiet a football field. Raised in the folk-drenched valleys of Eltham, NSW, Meraki's musical background is a tapestry of the folk tunes that raised them and the jazz music they studied later at university. Jay’s music delicately weaves a picture of activist sentiment that tells stories of overcoming, becoming and unfolding. From outstandingly charismatic to intimate, their silky, heart-felt voice and melodic lines will take you deep inside your heart for a moment of raw story telling.
Rowan Rose: (they/them)
Rowan Rose is interested in change and the many ways that living things interact with change. They give thanks to queers, artists and activists. They live on the lands of the Widjabul Wia-bal peoples of the Bundjalung nation, otherwise known as Lismore.
