BYD Nelson Bays Social 2026 | 29st–30th August 2026
Join us for the inaugural BYD Nelson Bays Social, bringing together players from around New Zealand for a fantastic weekend of competitive padel, great hospitality, and the opportunity to experience one of New Zealand's newest padel destinations.
Entries are open for players in the Men's and Women's C grade and Open Mixed grade.
Maximum event capacity is 56 players (28 teams) across the three grades.
Entries close Monday 23th August 4pm
Tournament Format
The tournament will be played using a Round Robin pool format followed by knockout finals, ensuring plenty of court time for all participants.
Minimum of three matches guaranteed per team
Round Robin pool play to determine standings and qualification for the knockout rounds
Knockout finals for qualifying teams
Pool matches and quarterfinals will be played as two sets with a match tiebreak if required
Semifinals and finals will be played as best-of-three sets
Final grades, draw sizes, advancement criteria, and tie-break procedures will be confirmed and published following the close of entries.
Tournament Schedule
Friday 28th August - Welcome Dinner – 7:00pm - Joe's Garage Berryfields
Players travelling to Nelson are invited to join us for a casual welcome meal and social gathering.
Saturday 29st August - Tournament commences at 8:00am
Sunday 30rd August - Finals and playoff matches.
All matches will be completed by 4:00pm at the latest to allow players travelling home sufficient time for departures.
Venue Information
The event will be hosted at Padel Centre, 13 Coman Drive, Richmond, Tasman.
Players should note that the venue roof height is 7 metres.
While this may occasionally influence very high defensive lobs, all competitors will play under the same conditions throughout the tournament.
Travel and Accommodation
Nelson/Tasman offers a wide range of accommodation options, cafes, restaurants, wineries, and outdoor attractions. We encourage visiting players and supporters to make a weekend of it and enjoy everything the region has to offer.
Player Information
Tournament draws and schedules will be published prior to the event.
Matches will be self-refereed.
Players must use a racket wrist strap during all matches.
