Description

一期一会 · Ichigo ichie

One time, one meeting.

A Zen Buddhist concept that reminds us that every encounter is unique. This exact moment, these conversations, and the people gathered in the room will never come together in quite the same way again.

Join us for a special Call to Presence gathering. An evening of meditation, self-inquiry, deep listening, open-hearted conversation and community.

Centred around the philosophy of ichigo ichie, this gathering is an invitation to be fully here and to meet the people in front of us and ourselves with curiosity.

This evening creates space for those chance encounters.

💫 Here’s what the evening will look like

1) Arrive & settle in
A space will be made for you. Tea will be served on arrival, giving you a moment to settle in, breathe, and arrive fully in the room.

2) Become present
We'll begin with a guided meditation to quieten the noise of the day and bring our attention to the present moment.

3) Have a deeper conversation
You'll be paired with someone for a 1:1 guided conversation — an invitation to move beyond “What do you do?” and explore stories, perspectives and experiences with curiosity and openness.

4) Reflect & journal
Through guided journaling, you'll have space to turn inward, explore the evening's theme, and reflect on who you are and who you are becoming.

5) Share & listen
We'll come together as a group to share authentically and listen deeply. You’re invited to contribute, but if you're more comfortable observing, simply listening is equally welcome.

6) Write to your future self
Before the evening comes to a close, you'll write a letter to your future self, which will be sent back to you six months later — a small reminder of who you were and what mattered to you in this moment.

Because this moment will only happen once.

Our letter-writing ritual is made possible by LOKTAA who create handcrafted, tree-free paper and stationery while helping fund education for girls in Nepal.

Call to Presence attendees will also receive 30% off all full-priced Loktaa goodies, excluding Wren Pens.

A little something before we meet

The gathering begins before we even arrive.

In the days leading up to Call to Presence, everyone who signs up will receive a small digital care package. This is a glimpse into the people you'll soon be sharing the room with.

One of my favourite parts of Call to Presence is witnessing the incredible things people are bringing into the world: their creativity, music, offerings, passions, and the ways they care for their communities.

Inside, you might discover original music created by a fellow attendee, a playlist or DJ set, an upcoming community offering, a guided meditation, or something else that gives you a small window into their world.

It's a chance to begin getting to know one another before we meet, to arrive with a little more curiosity, familiarity, and appreciation for the strangers who may not feel quite so unfamiliar by the end of the night.

一期一会 reminds us that every encounter is unique. This is where ours begins.

Who is the Facilitator?

Gianna is a gentle and compassionate meditation teacher of Sri Lankan Australian heritage, informed by her upbringing within the Theravada Buddhist tradition and a childhood nourished by mindfulness practices. These principles and virtues guided her towards serving young people since 2015, providing them with a safe space to lean into vulnerability and cultivate empathy and self-awareness.

She is deeply passionate about fostering a sense of home within community, recognising that the journey towards greater wellbeing and self-understanding can often feel isolating. Gianna has since woven together ancient Eastern philosophy and her background in psychology to offer a holistic approach to personal growth and emotional wellbeing. She creates a safe container for people to arrive exactly as they are, accompanying participants with gentle curiosity as they uncover their own insights, resilience and inner wisdom.
