    Event description

    C5 Presents: PRISON RAVE II feat. Mickey Nox [NAARM] and X.I.R.A [IE].

    //

    Australia, this is the one you’ve been waiting for. C5 invites industrial techno legends Mickey Nox [NAARM/MEL] and X.I.R.A [IE] for the revival of the Prison Rave.

    Maitland Gaol operated as a maximum security prison for 150 years, accommodating notorious offenders including Ivan Milat, John Hayes and the Murphy Brothers. Its grounds were witness to 16 executions in the 1800’s, with public hangings taking place at the front gates.

    Through the thunderous techno soundscape, beneath the lights and lasers, if you listen closely you will still hear the ghostly rattle of prisoners’ chains.

    Join us in B Wing as we usher in the night with a lineup of dark and destructive talent. Release your demons with brutal rhythms and metallic artistry. It’s industrial techno the way it should be.

    If you missed the first Prison Rave, this is your chance to experience the venue that made history in Australia’s rave scene. For those returning, let’s make this one as insane as the last.

    On July 29th, enter the dungeon and rave until your chains break.

    Mickey Nox:

    Mickey Nox is Australia's industrial techno gem, with many international gigs under his belt. In 2019, he brought his unique, gritty sound to Europe, playing at iconic venues including TRESOR (Berlin) and BASIS (Utrecht). As a Melbourne local, his productions have also made waves across the world, gaining support from techno heavyweights such as Rebekah, Dax J and Amelie Lens. As the founder of the widely-acclaimed label Green Fetish Records, he continues to push the Australian scene to new heights, curating a broad catalogue of high-octane compositions.

    For the first time, Mickey Nox will deliver his distinctive sound to Newcastle, where he will craft a set reminiscent of the depths of pandemonium.

    X.I.R.A:

    Japan-based, founder of Rave Against the Machines events and the creative force behind the RAM Radio series.

    A highly versatile performer, their sound is an ever-evolving conversation rooted in hard trance, hard industrial techno and hard tek. Mixes feature a gradual progression of intensity, building to a melodic finish. Experienced live, the infectious & raw intensity of their performance radiates through the dance floor.
