Cabernet Masters dinner with Hickinbotham's Chris Carpenter
Event description
Cabernet Masters dinner – celebrating the luxury and collectable cabernets of the world
Hosted by Hickinbotham’s chief winemaker, Chris Carpenter, and MC’d by wine writer Katie Spain.
They don't call Chris Carpenter the ‘cabernet master’ for nothing. But while Hickinbotham’s Chicago-born, Napa Valley-based chief winemaker only earned the title officially after two of his wines won gold in the Global Cabernet Sauvignon Masters 2023, it’s a moniker he’s proudly worn much longer. His love of the grape – as well as shiraz and merlot, among others – is what drew him to make wine in Clarendon, a revered high-elevation district at the northern end of McLaren Vale.
On Wednesday 12 June, at Melbourne’s iconic Vue de Monde, chief winemaker Chris Carpenter, together with Katie Spain, will host an intimate wine dinner to celebrate the evolution and diversity of cabernet sauvignon and Hickinbotham’s place in this world.
Over four courses, Chris will host conversations about the evolution of cabernet and its potential. Guests will experience vertical tastings of some of Hickinbotham's most coveted wines, including The Trueman and The Peake. Guests will also be treated to two wines from Chris' US labels, Lokoya and Mt Brave.
This special dinner will be held at Vue de Monde, located in the Rialto. Vue de Monde has been synonymous with Melbourne dining for over 20 years, continuing to present beautiful food that not only appeals to a sense of luxury but also honesty, integrity and an inherent natural flavour. Each wine will be expertly paired and enjoyed with sweeping city views.
