The Climate Action Conference 2025: Case Comp Edition
Event description
The Climate Action Conference is back for the third year in a row but not like you've seen before... ⁉️ Welcome to the Case Comp Edition 💯
Mark your calendars for 20th September 2025 🗓 where you'll get the chance to Dream, Design and Deliver for Tāmaki Makaurau’s climate future 🌏
The Youth Climate Collective is excited to welcome you to a day of learning and co-creating solutions to some of Tāmaki Makaurau's biggest challenges. With incredible climate action workshops and mentors to guide your teams throughout the day, we can’t wait to get stuck in! We’ll also be back on the University of Auckland Campus at our favourite 6 Green Star Rating building - B201.
Getting into teams of 2 -5 people, you'll begin the day ideating solutions to our unique case question and brief. Then your team will be required to split up and attend different climate action workshop streams. Here you'll have the chance to learn from experts across different sectors such as food, energy, transport, waste, climate resilience and indigenous knowledge. Make sure you're paying attention👂because your team will then re-group for the second half of the day to complete your case competition using these workshop learnings! Then it's time for the pitch! 🎉 Our industry judges will have the tough task to determine the best solutions developed by rangatahi for Tāmaki Makaurau. We have a $4000 Prize Pool split across our two categories, Open and Secondary School!!
So bring your friends, whānau, neighbours, colleagues and anyone else who'd like to attend for a jam packed full day action event! Here's more details about the conference:

How do I sign-up?
Every person must register for a ticket via the Humanitix page. If you already have a team of 2 - 5 people that you'd like to compete with, then please let us know on the ticketing form. If you don't have a team yet, then don't worry! We'll randomly assign and create your team on the day with others who are also keen to participate.
What's changing?
If you've attended previous iterations, you'll notice we've shifted to a more dynamic-one day event, making it more accessible for people to participate. We're also integrating a Case Competition with prizes this year to make the event more collaborative and problem-skills based! You'll have the opportunity to apply your learnings from workshops and research skills to solving real-world problems.
What's not changing?
Don't worry! You'll still have the chance to attend awesome workshops hosted by YCC and community organisations, visit stalls, and of course ✨ THERE'S FOOD INCLUDED
Who?
Although we have a youth focus, we know the importance of inter-generational collaboration in ideating solutions to the climate crisis, so our event is open for anyone to attend! If you're aged >18 and not attending High School anymore, we ask that you please enter the Open Category for the competition. Our Secondary School Category is for those who are still in High School within the Tāmaki Makaurau region.
Whangārei
If you're from Whangārei we've got a special case competition brief for you based on your region, and organising bus transport for you to come down! Please let us know via the ticketing form whether you'll be using this bus transport.
