CADENA

CADENA is a four-day festival celebrating the creative excellence of the Latinx diaspora in Naarm, Melbourne. Bringing together artists, writers, musicians, and performers, CADENA showcases the breadth and diversity of Latinx voices across artistic disciplines. As such, each event is an invitation for all to connect, exchange, and celebrate community.

Running alongside the program is the CADENA Pop-Up Shop, featuring bespoke merchandise, handmade accessories, and original artwork by Latinx makers. Guests will have the chance to take home unique pieces while directly supporting the artists behind them.

PROGRAM

WED 1/04 - FILM NIGHT
6.30pm - 9.30pm

A night of Latin American cinema in the Cadena warehouse to kick off the festival. From the trans*futurist community of Las Traviesas in Colombia to absurd happenings in a home in Mexico City, this film program shows the breadth of Latinx creativity on screen.

THURS 2/04 - LIVE READINGS & BOOK MAKING
6.30pm - 9.30pm
Come to listen, share and create in Latinx storytelling with an evening of live readings from local writers, a performance piece with a Latin theatre group and a hands-on bookmaking workshop using screen printed materials.

FRI 3/04 - EXHIBITION
6.30pm - 8.15pm

A photography exhibition by Ximena Jiménez featuring a beautifully curated selection of images capturing the intimacy of the local ballroom scene.

Free, no ticket required.

LIVE PERFORMANCE
8.30pm - 10pm
An artist performance by painter/filmmaker Zoe Milah DeJesus and musician Vessa involving large-scale live painting and an unfolding electronic soundscape.

SAT 4/04 - COFFEE BAR, SHOP, TATTOOS & NAILS

11am - 4pm

Join us for a slow start to your Saturday where you can have a coffee, explore the CADENA shop, get your nails done or even a tattoo.

Free, no ticket required.

SAT 4/04 - EP LAUNCH & CHULEO AFTER PARTY
7pm - 11pm / 11pm - late

Tina Disco launches her highly anticipated EP 'Sol' with an immersive live set joined by a talented lineup of friends, before the night descends into a dripping wet Chuleo Club after party. DJs, visuals, and a warehouse floor built for dancing till late.

Doors from 7pm. BYO event, limited number of drinks will be sold.
