Join Caesura Ensemble once again at the incredible space of Church Street Studios as we commence a recurring series of cutting-edge chamber music, featuring some of Sydney's finest young performers and composers.
This concert honours the endlessly exciting repertoire of the woodwinds and brass through a programme that never stays still or plays by the rules. We open with a unique arrangement of one of Bela Bartok's most ingenious works, the 2nd movement from the Concerto for Orchestra, which translates to 'game of pairs', highlighting the agility and strengths of each all the voices in the woodwind and brass section. Afterwards, we move on to the charming and youth Serenade for Wind Instruments in Eb Major by a 17 year-old Richard Strauss. We quickly hit the redline afterwards, featuring thrilling premieres from some of Sydney's finest emerging compositional talents: Olivia Diamant and Adriel Sukumar. Then, it's handing it over to our incredible principal players as they blaze through Ligeti's Six Bagatelles, before finishing on our large work of the evening, the timelessly gorgeous Serenade for Winds from Antonin Dvorak.
Join us on an evening that salutes the energetic artistic voices of all our performers and composers in a special space that allows you to connect in a particularly special way to the music.
