Event description

‘When moderating school-based decisions for the NCCD, teachers engage in professional dialogue about students’ level of adjustment and category of disability to make decisions that are consistent, reliable and defensible.' NCCD Moderation resource for schools (2019) P5

The Department of Education (DoE), Queensland Catholic Education Commission (QCEC) and Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) are working collaboratively to conduct NCCD Cross-sector moderation sessions across Queensland.

This is an opportunity for schools from different education sectors to moderate student evidence sets and receive feedback about their NCCD decisions.

Who should attend?

This session is for school staff who have previously participated in NCCD moderation (within-school, cross-school or cross-sector moderation).

Registration

Register by selecting one ticket from your sector’s (DoE, QCEC, ISQ) allocation (please do not register on behalf of another participant). Each participant must bring two student evidence sets to the session and not attend as an observer.

  • Moderation resources
  • Brief re-cap of moderation process
  • Cross-sector moderation of student evidence sets
  • Reflection

* Light refreshments will be provided during the session.

Times

All sessions are half-day events:

  • 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (registration from 8:30)

Materials

Please bring:

Two student evidence sets:

  • printed/photocopies (it is not appropriate to bring a laptop)

  • de-identified (name, school, photos removed). Participants are responsible for maintaining student privacy in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • can be physically swapped with other moderators
  • does not rely on a verbal summary.

Evidence sets could be for:

  • a student with an imputed disability

  • ‘borderline’ decisions about a student’s level of adjustment or disability category.

Please ensure your student evidence sets have been moderated by your school team before attending.
